Jugatx Astorkia

After graduating with Excellence in Art at the UPV / EHU (2017), she moved to Pontevedra to study the Master of Contemporary Art: Creation and Research. This allows her to focus on the subject of vision and light perception and also encourages him to expand his knowledge in different areas, such as phenomenology, experimental practices …

She currently lives and works in Bilbao and is doing his doctoral thesis at UPV / EHU on the plasticization of light through photographic denial processes. In her own artistic practice, she has proposed works that use traces and light registers to make visible what seems invisible. Her work starts from the desire to understand and question the perception and representation of the reality of today’s society, responding to an accelerated world, to the supremacy of vertiginous speed and the requirements of immediacy and globality. In 2019, she received the Visual and Plastic Arts Grant from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia.
