Arturo Cancio Ferruz

Multidisciplinary artist. PhD in Research in Contemporary Art, University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU. Department of Art and Technology, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of the Basque Country (UPV / EHU).

He develops his research and creation work in art since 2006 and defends the Art and Precariousness thesis in 2018. It is essential to consider the specificities of the context in which his practice is developed. In his latest works, of a markedly collaborative nature, the artist assumes the role of mediator or facilitator. Starting from a starting concept, the development of the creation process is carried out through the participation of volunteers. Among the recurring themes are, both explicitly and implicitly, precariousness – both ontological and political – feminisms or the relationships between art, design and crafts.
